All Jimnys also include snow chains during winter so you can confidently travel to alpine destinations like Lake Tekapo and Mt Cook.

A 12V fridge runs off the vehicle so you can keep food and drinks cold on the road.
With the full Adventure Package loaded, you still have space for a couple of big bags in the car. Sleeping bags and pillows are optional: add them when you book if you don't want to bring your own.
With the full Adventure Package loaded, you still have space for a couple of big bags. Here's the full setup with two sleeping bags and pillows.
The tent is mounted on the roof of the Jimny. It folds out in a few minutes and has a built-in ladder. Inside you get a foam mattress (1.4 m × 2.4 m) and we fit a clean bottom sheet for each hire. It sleeps two comfortably. You pack it away when you drive.
A clean bottom sheet on the mattress is included. Sleeping bags and pillows are optional. We have warm Marmot Trestle 15 sleeping bags and down/feather pillows you can add when you book. Many customers bring their own sleeping bags if they prefer.
The 12V fridge is sized to fit in the Jimny and run off the vehicle. It holds enough for two people for a few days of meals and drinks. Exact capacity can vary by unit; it’s designed for road trip use rather than long-term storage.
Yes. The Adventure Package includes a gas stove, Jetboil (for boiling water only), frying pan, pot, chopping board, can opener, knife, tongs, spatula, and BBQ utensils. You also get a full dinner set: mugs, plates, bowls, cutlery, and cups for two.
Freedom camping rules depend on the area and local council. Where it’s allowed, you can use the Jimny and rooftop tent at designated freedom camping spots. Always follow local rules, use approved areas, and leave no trace. Our freedom camping and DOC map can help you find spots.
Winter camping is possible and the South Island is stunning in the cold months. Snow chains are included in winter. The Jimny handles gravel and winter roads well. If you’re planning alpine or snowy routes, we can advise on conditions and chains when you book.
No. The Adventure Package (rooftop tent and camping gear) is only available when you pick up from Christchurch. Queenstown vehicles are set up for day trips and winter driving without rooftop tents. You can pick up in Christchurch with the full package and drop off in Queenstown if you’re doing a one-way trip.
With the full Adventure Package, two sleeping bags and pillows loaded, you still have room for a couple of large bags. The Jimny is compact but the gear is designed to pack efficiently so you can take your luggage too.
