Drivers must be at least 20 years old and hold a current full licence. There is no young-driver surcharge. If you’re driving on an overseas licence it needs to be in English, or accompanied by a certified translation or an International Driving Permit. Bring your licence and passport to pickup.

A full, valid driver licence held for the length of your hire, plus photo ID (passport for international visitors). Overseas licences must be in English or come with an approved translation / IDP.

Yes. Gravel and unsealed public roads are allowed year-round — that’s what the Jimny is built for. Off-roading (4WD tracks, private land, beaches, riverbeds) is not permitted.

Lockbox pickup is available in both Christchurch and Queenstown. Choose a pickup time when you book — if your flight lands outside standard hours, let us know and we’ll arrange after-hours collection. We send exact instructions after you book. One-way drop-off between the two cities is available by arrangement.

A 50% deposit secures your booking, and the balance is charged automatically about a week before pickup. A $500 bond is held (not charged) on your card at pickup and released after the vehicle is returned.

Snow chains are an optional add-on at $50 per booking. We recommend them for winter travel and alpine routes where chains may be required. Add them in the booking flow and we’ll advise on current conditions.

Rooftop tent (sleeps two), a full kitchen kit with stove and Jetboil, camp chairs, a dinner set and a 12V fridge — $75/day. It’s available with a Christchurch pickup only and added during booking. Sleeping bags and pillows are optional extras.

Every hire comes with standard cover and a security bond / excess. Optional excess reduction is available to lower the amount you’re liable for — ask about cover options when you book.

Yes. You can pick up in Christchurch and drop off in Queenstown, or the reverse. One-way drop-off is arranged at booking and may carry a relocation fee depending on dates.
