Brand new, this is a course we are running for the first time. This is a practical training weekend and will be a memorable adventure. A mix of a guided tour into the mountains, with lots of 4WD lessons to learn at the same time.
Starting on Saturday morning, we'll head into the high country for 2 days of lessons and adventures. This course will be led by myself (Adam Crouchley) and Adrian Bowen of Get a Grip Training Solutions.
There will be 3 main takeaways from this trip, you will:
On top of that, we'll have a nice evening sharing stories and food around a campfire way up in the high country. It'll be a social weekend, no doubt there will be lots of stories.
During the weekend you will learn about:
REQUIREMENTS:
The weather changes quickly in the high country. Even though we will be only in the mountains for 2 days, bring enough food and warm, dry clothes for 4 days. I haven't been stuck in the mountains yet, but if I ever am, I want to be prepared!
LOCATION - We will meet at Windwhistle on Saturday morning, and we'll come back out at the same point on Sunday afternoon at about 3pm. There is a fuel station (but no food) at Windwhistle, everyone can fill up there, and that will easily provide enough fuel for the weekend. Everyone must have their food and water before arriving, there are no shops at Windwhistle.
CAMPING - We will be camping on the Saturday night, so you will need to bring a tent and sleeping gear and camp chairs to sit around the fire. We will camp near a hut, so there will be the use of the toilet at that hut. We will have a big BBQ for everyone to use, so there is no need for you to bring a BBQ, but please bring your own food for the BBQ.
Recovery Points are essential, front and rear.
PASSENGERS - Big 4WD trips are much safer with an active passenger. We encourage you to bring a passenger on this trip; there is a lot for the passenger to learn, too. Yes, kids can come, but no dogs please. There is no extra charge for passengers, the listed price is per vehicle.
This is not a tough trip. You don't need a snorkel or great big tyres, a completely standard Jimny is fine for this trip. If you have done one of our courses at Parkley, you'll be fine on this trip.
TIP: When I go 4WDing, I take SOME OF THESE. We will need to check river depths before we drive into the water. Changing into some of these before walking into the water makes the rest of the trip a lot more comfortable. Not essential, but I like them.
LIMITED SPACES AVAILABLE! Book early to secure your spot on this trip.
Jimny Rentals! Our Jimny rental cars are available to hire for this trip, the cost for this is $500 for the weekend or $600 with our Adventure Package. We also have sleeping bags and pillows available for hire.
No refunds will be issued if you are to withdraw within 7 days of the course.

Ready to take your Jimny to the next level? Toadi’s got you covered with the ultimate roof rack and ladder setup! 🔥
We couldn’t wait to test it out—so naturally, we threw a set of drawers on top (because why not?), and guess what? This bad boy didn’t even flinch! Held my 95kg weight like a champ. 💪 The rack’s rock-solid and ready for whatever adventure you’ve got lined up.
A little heads-up: there are a few extra bits in the box (mainly for light fixtures), so don’t worry if you’ve got some leftover parts after assembly. And the ladder? It needed a bit of elbow grease to pop over the top of the door, but once it’s on, it’s a snug fit and totally transforms the look. 🛠️
Whether you’re going for that rugged explorer vibe or just need the extra space, this combo is a must-have for your Jimny. Bring on the off-road escapades! 🌄🚙
Highly recommended top quality! Very impressive performance
Worth every penny! Makes it drive like a normal car can go around corners at speed and doesn't feel like it's going to fall over. Absorbs rough bumps alot better and Over all massive improvement. Thanks again Adam.
I agree and second all @Brendon Doon’s review comments. An incredibly well organized training day with expert facilitation and interesting discussion topics. Great to understand how the Jimnys work and what makes them so great. Good to actually use all the buttons in the car and know what they’re for and most especially upskill driver capability with mastering terrain assessment and predicting how your vehicle will respond as you work your way through each obstacle. Can’t wait for the recovery course scheduled in the summer. Meanwhile keep saving for the ever growing accessory list. 😄 Strongly recommend to all Jimby enthusiasts, even those who know a bit about 4x4ing already. You’ll definitely come away having learnt something new.
Easy to install and certainly look the part. Thanks. Bryan. :-)
