The MAXTRAX Winch Ring 120 adds to the growing range of modern 4×4 equipment designed to make recoveries easier and safer. It is designed as an alternative to a steel snatch block when setting up a double-line winch recovery pull.
The MAXTRAX Winch Ring is generally safer than a steel snatch block. Steel blocks use the same ideology but are heavy and require hard shackles. While high-quality and well-maintained traditional steel snatch blocks are unlikely to break, if something in the setup, like the anchor, fails, the snatch block can become a heavy projectile.
The idea here aligns with MAXTRAX's aim to remove heavy items like steel winch cables and shackles from recovery setups wherever possible.
The Winch Ring 120 is also significantly lighter than a steel snatch block, saving valuable storage weight in your rig.
Double Line Pulls Explained:
For those new to winch recoveries, let’s explain a double-line pull. Running the winch line through a pulley (traditionally a steel snatch block pulley) and back to the vehicle makes it possible almost to double the winch's capacity. Your truck only moves forward half that distance for every length of winch we roll on the drum.
Think of it as low-range for your winch. Sometimes, a single-line pull will be more than enough, but it’s an easy trick to get more winching power when you need it in extreme recovery conditions.
The MAXTRAX Winch Ring rigs up in the same layout as a traditional snatch ring. It’s designed for synthetic winch lines only. It’s a simple matter of placing the winch line over the ring and connecting the Winch Ring to an anchor point using a soft shackle as pictured.

Ready to take your Jimny to the next level? Toadi’s got you covered with the ultimate roof rack and ladder setup! 🔥
We couldn’t wait to test it out—so naturally, we threw a set of drawers on top (because why not?), and guess what? This bad boy didn’t even flinch! Held my 95kg weight like a champ. 💪 The rack’s rock-solid and ready for whatever adventure you’ve got lined up.
A little heads-up: there are a few extra bits in the box (mainly for light fixtures), so don’t worry if you’ve got some leftover parts after assembly. And the ladder? It needed a bit of elbow grease to pop over the top of the door, but once it’s on, it’s a snug fit and totally transforms the look. 🛠️
Whether you’re going for that rugged explorer vibe or just need the extra space, this combo is a must-have for your Jimny. Bring on the off-road escapades! 🌄🚙
Highly recommended top quality! Very impressive performance
Worth every penny! Makes it drive like a normal car can go around corners at speed and doesn't feel like it's going to fall over. Absorbs rough bumps alot better and Over all massive improvement. Thanks again Adam.
I agree and second all @Brendon Doon’s review comments. An incredibly well organized training day with expert facilitation and interesting discussion topics. Great to understand how the Jimnys work and what makes them so great. Good to actually use all the buttons in the car and know what they’re for and most especially upskill driver capability with mastering terrain assessment and predicting how your vehicle will respond as you work your way through each obstacle. Can’t wait for the recovery course scheduled in the summer. Meanwhile keep saving for the ever growing accessory list. 😄 Strongly recommend to all Jimby enthusiasts, even those who know a bit about 4x4ing already. You’ll definitely come away having learnt something new.
Easy to install and certainly look the part. Thanks. Bryan. :-)
